Well folks the 2005 cooking season has started rough.
Our first competition this year was the West Volunteer Fire Department annual cook off . It was certainly a miserable showing. Although Paul and myself had a really good time we did not place in any of the three categories.
Our second competition at HOT Fair Complex we did very well. Having taken home a ninth place brisket trophy and a second place chicken trophy. Once again a big thanks to Paul Novelli for standing in for Jim as he was not able to make it.
The third competition of the year was June 25 at Itasca. Once again the team went home empty handed but did make some good friends and some IBCA contacts. We'll back for this next year.
Our forth competition was at the KC Hall in West. Very good turnout with over 60 teams. Empty handed again but the cook off was a great success. This is the second one these folks have put on and it's getting better. Great job Coty!!
The Tone Deaf Cooking Team has be honored with an invitation to the National Championship BBQ Cookoff in Meridian,TX August 26 - 27th. We attended. Once again empty handed but we still had great time. There was right at 160 teams. Competition was very tough.
So we have now competed in our first Chili cookoff. It was interesting to say the least. It was a first competition to be put on by Howell's in Malone too. I really didn't know what to expect or what I was doing but I did manage to take home 3rd place. It was a lot of fun. Congrats goes out to Gary (2 dogs) Standfast on his placing 2nd place. I think we'll look forward to more of these in the future.

I guess that's about it for 2005. Really looking forward to next year... Maybe the new pit will be ready by then.
